Removing Lifters, without removing head.

Beautiful, my mate had an old 'lifter removal tool' laying around..(pitty i didnt no earlier )
So i got the lifter out (in a matter of minutes!)
Gonna buy a new lifter/s tomorrow.
What sort of wear should i be looking for on the old lifter?

*if any one is intrested i can post a pic of the tool, incase anyone is curious.

I guess you should be looking for a general distortion of the base - if you look at it, and it either isnt reflecting anything, or what it reflects is distorted, then its worn. I pulled a lifter out of my old XD engine, the base of that was concave..

I'd actually be more worried with the cam - Take a look at the lobes on the cam, if the reflection isn't uniform across the lobe on the cam, or it looks rough in some way, then thats worn as well.. But if it is worn, and you've come this far anyway... lol.

Oh, and please do post a pic of the tool. It'd be good for when I go get one myself

The bottom of the lifter is a little concave.

I guess i will just see what happens..

Old lifter out, new lifter in.
Resulted in: No more ticking....
WAHOO.

Just an FYI... The lifter base radius is usually stated as 40 inches, in case you want to make a jig for use on a linisher...
