She really wants to start Part II

OK, here is what I have done to check my timing.

1. Removed spark plugs
2. Removed valve cover
3. Turned the motor by hand/wrench
4. Looked inside

My timing marks line up when the piston is at the top of the compression stroke. Having said that, I think the motor itself is timed right. I think I may need to play a little more with the dizzy timing and the carb. Like I said in the previous post, I need to replace one of the air/fuel mixture screws. While I was trying to start the motor, the screws were almost all the way backed out. That is why I was saying the mixture may be too lean.
I am off today and I will continue to tinker with the dizzy and the timing. Please let me know if I am missing something.

Thanks

Ted:

If your mixture screws are backed all the way out you are too rich...
A good place to start is to turn them all the way in till they seat gently.
Then give them a turn and a half out each... that should get you close enough to start... once the engine is run-in you can then tune it up properly...

Jimbo,

Thanks. I am waiting for a new air/fuel mixture screw to come in. One of mine is bent.
Maybe, I'll get it by next weekend.

Question.
Do you have the adjustable rocker arms. If so. Are they down to tight holding a valve open?
