Hey this is my latest project its a 1978 Transit Sundowner Supervan
It has a 250 iron crossflow a toploader 4 speed and a 9" rear
It also has some other cool stuff like swiveling front seats and a body kit that needs to be fitted

It will be restored to original appart from the engine and interior and will be used to tow the Cortina around

Hmmm, that's not a 'Yank' spec Marquis is it Adam? The taillight(s) DO look familiar---like a '70-thru-'73 Marquis over here. They're BIG cars I'll tell ya that 8) ! OO6./The-X-Or-Six!

Steven, the local Marquis (that is one) was an optioned "ZH" series Fairlane. Fingers could look up part numbers for the rear lenses to see if they're US spec. Probably aren't, due to the different colour indicators.

There are some odd-bod and low production long Fords here from about 72-78. The ZF LTD, Landau coupe, '77 LTD "Silver Marquis" are some springing to mind.

Mick's van is generically known as a "Postie Van" - the mail service used them for years and they'd drive around with the front door slid back (yep, track, not hinges on the front doors).

hey Adam all my doors are hinged, thank god

I got it from Marulan for a good price ahd had a hell of a time getting it on the trailer with the 265 tyres on the front, its 6' 8" across the front

Ooh I missed the camel on first pass. I wonder what the Marketing execs from Ford in the 70's are doing these days? Trying to sell Magnas maybe.

Or rav 4's

Nice.... 265's on the front, luv it.
Silver Monarch Adam.
I missed the camel too but was going to mention that the guy should be on a Marlboro poster, and the girl should be in my bed.
And Steven, we've always been at least 5 years behind, it's a '77-'78.
Mick is the loader original, I remember hearing years ago that the Qld. delivered Transits still had them, years after falcons went to rails, although that ad only mentions 3 speeds.

Im not too sure if the toploader is the original box
but the original owner insists that it is, same goes with the air con and the 9"

Silver Monarch! Of course, I knew it was to do with the Queen's 1977 Silver Jubbly or whatever. Doh! Getting old and dopey.

Very funny about that picture is the trad Aussie food in the dish next to the chick.

Surely the aircon's originality would be evidenced by the fuel pump type, wiring loom, compressor and brackets.

Cheers, Adam.

Haha, that's funny, I never even connected it with the old girl before you mentioned it. But how do you explain the even rarer Gold Sovereign then.
Whats the diff with the fuel pump on an A/C car?

The aircon-equipped 250s had the eight fuel pump with a six arm. It had a slightly higher flow rate. No big secret; I think this is even in the Gregory's manuals...

Never heard of the Sovereign as a Ford model! You finished with that girl yet?

Yeah the gold sovereign was the same car, but in gold obviously. It's amazing how many people call all P6 ltd's silver monarch, no matter what colour.
Gregory's, goddam things should be banned. Never heard of that with the fuel pump, but does that mean they also had the larger diameter v8 size fuel supply line??

And btw Adam, I feel that I should keep her a little longer, but what the hey, I don't mind sharing.

I believe they still ran the 5/16" placcy fuel lines.

Got any model codes for the Gold and Silver LTD's? We'll add them to our sticky of such (possibly the largest Falcon/Fairmont/Fairlane/LTD body code compilation as it's pinched from everywhere and verified as feasible).

Gregory's are probably responsible for leading thousands to the depths of despair - stunning leaps of omitted detail, sweeping perfunctory statements... I learnt more from pulling things apart with common sense.

So are we going to track down the girl and get her to pose with Mick's toy?
