hey guys. i know where there are two, what i beleive to be, 262's. the are in western minnesota. they are in 57-60 ford 100 and f-250. email me at cgrstng@hotmail.com for more info if interested.
From '61-'63 they were in F/M-250's on up, however in '64 they were offered for the F/M-100's as well, then they were offered for Industrial applications only for the next five years after that.
hey guys. i have an update.. yes those motors are 262's.theyboth are in pre 60 f-250's. drop me a line at cgrstng@hotmail.com or on here. i looked closer the other day when i was out there. man they are big compared to the 223.
Unless you post some Pix, I'm not a believer.
What are they doing in 2 pre-60's F-250s, the 262 came ot in '61, it wasn't a rather well liked engine because it didn't live up to claims made by Ford for Economy & Power improvements.
Based on one 262 engine that I have the 262 has the fuel pump on the housing that covers the cam timing gear cover and has cam drive gears instead of a timing chain and sprockets. The rocker cover is held on by two nuts on studs like the early 215. The later 223 engine rocker cover is held on by 5/16 bolts around the flange.
That's for the '61-'63, the '64 had the same set-up as the 223, fuel pump wise.
Though they'd the Dual Crank Pulley, Carb Heater supplied by the Water Pump, Factory PCV, Extra Ribbing on the Left side, Oil Filler Spout towards the Middle of the Valve Cover, & the Block Casting # begins w/ a C.
My first 262 was out of a 64 pickup the fuel pump was behind the dist.the ID# was c4te 6015 a onleft side to rear of the generator the one i have now was in a 62 grain truck ID#c2te 6015 a the fuel punp was on the timing cover like the colonel said if you can`t go see it get a picture i have look at two many that was said to be 262 that were not
ok everyone. i have sent out the pics of the possible 262's. and i have been informed that these are not 262's but 223's. i am sorry for an confusion. i truely apologize.
