Where's my engine tag? And can anyone decode a rebuild tag?

While draining the coolant flush out of my car this morning I decided it was high time to go look at the FoMoCo engine tag. Is it someplace conspicuous? I couldn't find it. I know year of manufacture (I found the casting number), - it's definitely a '66. The car was converted to a slushomatic somewhere in its life. Could it be whoever did the work just took a complete assembly and slid it in rather than cracking the transmission off?

I did find find a tag that I can somewhat read. What I can read is "...Builders Corp of America", "NJ" (car was from NJ so that's good), and a bunch of numbers. One I can read a label for that says BO, rest scratched out. I'm guessing that's bore. The number next to it is 040. Which brings me to another question - how much overbore is safe? Has this engine been punched as high as is safe? Just asking so when it comes time I know whether I have to chuck this block or can give it some love one more time...

There are five other numbers, but the labels are scratched off. I was wondering if there is some standard for these tags or whether anyone has heard of this company before.

Thanks for any guidance. I know I'm coming up with lots of questions as I go through the car. I'm trying to do searches before I bring it up.

I found my tag. I saw some information over on classicinlines saying to look around the coil. There it was. Tag says '65 on it.

:) Hi 65fback.I believe that that tag that you found was put on the block by a commercial engine rebuilder located in NJ.FoMoCo`s engine ID`s are generally of the cast in variety.
The 040 that you see on the tag indicates a 040 over bore done by that rebuilder.
Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

Thanks woodbutcher. I've cleaned a little more of the tag. It has an 0x0 reading for 'rods' as well. There's another, but that part is definitely scratched out.

I also found the FoMoCo engine build tag - the one with the build date, etc. on it. It was still attached to the coil. I think it's possible the engine could have been swapped in with the transmission when that was done to the car.
