a/c power question

so if A/C drains power via belt robbing power off engine...is there a total electric a/c unit? : :

I would rather have a draw off my alt then my horsepower...

Think about where your alt gets power from..... Even if there was an all electric system it would need a BIG alternator to run it which is going to draw even more HP off the motor. And it would certainly weigh more than a traditional system.

Simple solution, turn off the A/C if you want to go fast.

Are you using a Sanden compressor? A smaller/more efficient compressor can free up some HP.

A fairly efficient small window AC unit (7-8000 BTU) draws about 7 or 8 amps at 115V.

At 12 V, that would be a power draw of about 75 amps! You'd need a whole alternator to provide that much power and maybe a battery (or two) to backup that system.

There is a low power alternative here.
