Yesterday I bought another 200 dual pattern block. I’ve got one laying around with a D8 250 heading sitting on it but it needs a full rebuild. I’m hoping to get the latest one cleaned up and running while I tinker with the other.
The motor turns over clean and compression sounds and feels are there.
Pulling the oil pan to inspect I found quite a bit of debris in the timing chain housing. I flipped the motor back over and blew it out with compressed air, along with the crank case housing. I notice the rubber on the harmonic balancer is dry rot so that’s getting replaced. The cylinder walls don’t look scarred - bonus.
I’m considering replacing the oil pump for good measure but leaving the rest.
I’ll check the pugs maybe but a newer dizzy on with a carb swap.
Does anyone have thoughts on inspection, or cleaning the internals before buttoning it back up?
