Hey guys...been awhile..but I drove my ride this weekend and finally realized that I need to rebuild or replace the 1bbl or go to a 2bbl. I would like to just get another 1bbl from like Pony..but in the Falcon book they talk about setting floats and jets. Sounded like greek to me...so where can i get info to read up on this. Also anyone with a Pony carb experience to share?

Get yourself a good maintenance book. Then, go to the junkyard and find an old carb, doesn't have to be serviceable, and practice assembly and disassembly. It really isn't rocket science. Just take it one step at a time. 8)
I wouldn't buy a rebuilt carb unless the throttle shafts were flopping in their bores, or the body were cracked/broken.

Tony's advise is good stuff. In addition, I'd suggest that you buy the appropriate carb rebuild kit and take a thorough look at the instruction sheet that is enclosed. If I can do it, it can't be that difficult.

You'll need a clean, well lite work area, a container of carb cleaner and a can of spray carb cleaner. Cleanlyness is critical.

If the car is currently correctly jetted, no need to change anything there. Setting the choke is simple if you follow the direction in the rebuild kit instruction sheet.

Reassembly is critical. Take your time. Make sure that gaskets are lined up and in place. A dab of Vasoline will help to keep them in place. Once it's back together go back and tighten. Once it's back on the car, watch for gas leaks and listen for vacuum leaks. Fix them then fine tune the low speed air screw and enjoy.

I too would have to go with what everyone else has said in regards to the Autolite. Did it myself. However, a used Motorcraft 2100/2150 or Holley 2BBL on a Cliffy type adapter makes for a nice and relatively inexpensive upgrade.

I bought the 2BBL to 1BBL adapter for 20 or so bucks and the Motorcraft for about the same. A few more dollars to adapt the existing carburetor linkage to suit the 2V and it was done.

The car didn't sound "horse" at highway speeds. I could even pass when I wanted on 270.

Just another idea...
