How to configure the carb/linkage with my aussie head/intake

Great progress on getting the engine installed and running today - until it came time to hook up the carb. How do you do it?

I've got 2 carbs - either a HW5200 or a Autolite 2100. Both are going to require a spacer to get the carb up off the intake so the linkage can move. Looks like the autolite has a better chance of working, but I've got no idea how to get the linkage set up.

Anyone got any idea? Or better yet, pics of their setup? Here are some shots of what I've got. This is going in my 67 Mustang. You can just barely see the top of the original linkage just below the manifold bewteen the engine and the intake.

Bad news, it wont work on a 67 Mustang.
Good news, I have a log head I will swap you for it.

I think most have installed a cable setup. You can rob the pedal and all from an early seventies ford, or you can check out a Lokar setup.

That link has some pics that show a 4 barrel with cable setup.
Do a search on "throttle and cable".

Some good pictures, but I haven't seen any 2 bbl setups. I am putting a 2 bbl on the stock aussie intake and am looking for some instructions (step by step if possible) and pics on what I need to buy and how to install.

I appreciate what you have sent so far - keep it coming.

vin, I took a torch and bent and cut the stock rod. then took some cheap heim joints and made the linkage to the carb. I did that because the cable setup requires a sharp bend that I wanted to avoid. I'll try to dig up a pic.

the only pic I could find, look to the back of the engine you'll see the linkage pop up.

unlike the h/w, the autolite linkage will pull back towards the firewall .

Thanks. I'm hopeful Mike will make available the kit that he teases us with in the sticky on throttle cable setup.

Otherwise, the setup Slade (Cobrasix) has looks like it will work well if I can get the right pedal.

Vin, check my edit on the post above

So I'm thinking of sticking with the autolite as well. In your pic, looks like carb accelerator linkage is on the driver's side-is that correct?

The way I have my carb oriented, the linkage is on the passenger side. This was needed so there was room for the choke assembly. If I remove the choke, I could turn the carb 180 degrees and likely modify the rod as you did. With my current orientation, too many mods would be needed to get past the heater fan.

I picked up a 65-68 V8 accelerator pedal setup today and plan to use it along with a throttle cable - similar to Cobrasix's setup.

If anyone needs one of these pedals, let me know as I got a line on a few more of them.
