85 degrees in Athens in August? I need to move a few more miles your way. I didn't realize it was that much cooler there. Hope you rectified the problem. I've seen where you are on to bigger and better things now.

Hahaha, they don't call me "OC" fer nothing, ya know! :mrgreen: I know, I know...but my goal is to get it to where I could park it in the blazing sun, leave it idling with the a/c on, and an hour later it wouldn't have overheated but there'd be frost on the insides of the windows. :chill: I know it's not realistic, but ya gotta have a goal, right? Mwu-hahahahahaha!

Have you told us if you have an automatic or stick? If you have an automatic, you can reduce the cooling load on the radiator by installing a tranny cooler.

No, the coolant passages looked clean when we got it back from the machine shop, so I wasn't worried about it at the time.

I did get the issues worked out, a few more flushes and an aluminum radiator from Silla Cooling fixed the problem pretty well. I think the biggest problem was that my radiator was clogged.

The car was an automatic at the time of the cooling problems, but I was running an external cooler because the original radiator I got didn't have a cooler. The aluminum one does have a cooler, but I never connected it... I just kept using the external one. I have since switched over to a manual transmission.

Ron... 85 is the temp when I am usually driving. I have enough sense not to drive a car without a/c during the hottest part of the day. Its going to be 96 outside today
