Vacuum Canister??

This is on my 71 Bronco with a 170ci; it is connected to manifold / carb vacuum and to the distributor. What does it do?
I'm putting in a 200ci and want to know if I need to move it over in the swap?

8) that is a vacuum control module. it uses vacuum to control vacuum advance for emissions reasons. if i recall my automotive emissions class lessons correctly(it has been 30+ years since).

It sounds like I can get away without using this since there are no emissions left on the Bronco. I have a single vacuum Dura Spark distributor what is the best source for
the vacuum connection?

find a ported vacuum source near the base of the carb. something that shows no vacuum at idle, but does as the throttle opens.

Glad U asked, most would just strip it away and then "wonder Y it don't run right"...
