battery cable location?

Does anyone know where the stock mounting location is for the negative battery cable on a '62 f100? I'm putting my truck back together and bought new cables but I cant tell where it mounted to. There's a ground cable going from the bolts holding the gas pedal to the bellhousing, another one going from the frame on the passenger side to somewhere (can't remember, starter maybe?), and the battery ground cable which is only about 12" long and won't reach the frame or the block. I think it mounted somewhere on the firewall or the battery tray but I can't remember now and my pictures don't show it well. I could get a long cable and go straight to the frame but i've got these already and it worked for over 40 years this way.

Thanks, Shane[/img]

On my '58 the ground cable from the battery runs to the top outside bolt that attaches the battery tray to the firewall. The firewall to bellhousing ground is the same as yours. I thought there was another ground to the chassis but I couldn't find it tonight.

Not sure if it is the stock way or not, but on my 62 Unibody, I have a Negative Ground from Battery to Starter mount bolt, aground from engine block to frame, and a ground from frame to body, This ties it all together, and I have not had any electrical problems. If I had a separate box, I would also run a ground wire from frame to the box.

Thanks for the help! That's exactly what I needed to know. Mine's a stepside, so i'll check and make sure there's a ground to the bed also.

the more ground wires the better. i have done a lot of electrical troubleshooting (cars, semis, m1 tanks) and i can tell you that 9 times out of 10 a weird electrical problem that defies logic is a bad ground. remember this always...
